Watchmaking Workshop with Maurice de Mauriac
Never assembled a watch yourself before? Now you can do just that with Maurice de Mauriac. You can take apart and reassemble a Unitas pocket watch movement under expert supervision.
Time & Location
12 Nov 2026, 18:00 – 20:00
Maurice de Mauriac Zurich Watches, Rämistrasse 5, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland
About the event
The experience begins with a short introduction by a member of the Maurice de Mauriac family, who shares the history of watchmaking and of the manufactory. The watchmakers then explain the principles behind a mechanical watch and what makes it tick.
Guests then move on to the practical part of the workshop, working with an open UNITAS pocket watch movement, ten times larger than a conventional one, so that every component is clearly visible. Under the guidance of the watchmaker, each part is disassembled and explained in turn. The movement is then carefully reassembled by the guests, ending with the moment it begins to tick again.
Families, friends and teams take the opportunity to enjoy a shared experience that not only brings the mechanical watch to life, but is also useful as a team-building exercise, as you reassemble a complete movement together and it ticks at the end.
